Two Year Sneakerversary!

Wanna win all this?!
That's right, Sneak Attacks are about to turn two years old!  The first Sneak Attack happened on September 24, 2008, and we'll be celebrating the second annual "Sneakerversary" - two years of giving new/undiscovered Etsy shops a kindly boost - on Thursday, September 23, 2010, with a special Sneak Attack and a BIG giveaway of the above items generously donated by Etsy shop owners.   This is where you can enter to win!

Earn one entry for each of the following :

  • Leave a comment here... maybe share how you felt when you got the first sale in your Etsy shop, or tell us about your favorite item you've spotted during a Sneak Attack.

  • "Like" the Handmade Movement on facebook.

  • Follow the Handmade Movement on twitter.

  • Write a post on your own blog about the Second Annual Sneakerversary Giveaway, with a link to this blog post.

  • Share this blog post as a link on your facebook.

Ways to earn even more entries:

  • Tweet about the Second Annual Sneakerversary Giveaway on twitter, making sure to include "@Sneak_Attacks" and a link to this blog post.  You can earn one entry per week for additional tweets between August 26 and 3:00 p.m. Eastern time (we are GMT-5:00) on Thursday, September 23.

  • Purchase an item from the Handmade Movement's shop on Etsy (sales in the shop help offset the cost of this website's upkeep), then post a link to your transaction here.  Multiple purchases will earn you multiple entries.

  • Purchase an item in a Sneak Attack between August 26 and September 16, then post a link to your transaction here (if, for example, you make purchases in the August 26 and September 13 Sneak Attacks, posting your two transaction links here would earn you two entries).

Each thing that you choose to do to enter this giveaway must be posted as a separate comment here.  Please be sure to leave your contact information (like your email address or Etsy shop link) so you can be notified if you are the lucky winner.

Last year was a great party (you can read about the one-year Sneakerversary celebration here); please feel free to join us in our Sneakerversary thread, and click here for details about the goodies included in the giveaway!   Thanks for a wonderfully Sneaky two years!

  9. My first sale was actually as a Sneak Attack "victim"
I wondered if I could ever sell my BooBooZoo guys on-line or if they had to be a "see and feel" buy. That was the BEST on-line day EVER! It really got me motivated too, I know what i am doing is worth it and fun as well. I have made several sales since my sneak attack and everyone is still as joyful!!!

  42. I became a Sneaker after I was attacked on November 19, 2008. I had been on Etsy since May 15, 2008 and had no sales up to that point. I had been on some other threads saying this and was noticed by VE and she put me up as a "victim". I was out all day that day and didn't get on until late. I thought, like many victims, that this had to be some kind of joke or spam when I saw all the emails! Then I checked it out and it was real! I had 34 sales that night! I was in tears and so excited! My husband couldn't believe it either as he had been skeptical about the whole Etsy thing. It was such a wonderful way to jump start a shop that had little or no sales that I wanted to help out, so here I am! I really have had a lot of fun "meeting" all of the Sneaker people over the last couple of years.

  43. Wow much to do! I'm going to get on that! I can't leave a comment about previous sneaks I've seen because I just found out about it! Yay what fun!

  47. When I first signed up for Etsy I was so scared of rejection it took me 2 months to set up shop and nervously list my first items. I listed on April 3rd and made my first sale on April 4th....I was HOOKED! Since then I have dealt with so many wonderful sellers and buyers on Etsy I can't imagine my life without it. I just love the Sneak Attack and having a hand in getting others started and building their confidence. When I can't afford to buy I always at least try to stop in and heart the shops. Many thanks to those of you who organize and run the Sneak Attack :)

  50. Here's a little story for my comment... the first 5 sales I got were purchases from friends. It wasn't until recently when I got numbers 6 and 7 that I really felt like I was accomplishing something. We'll see if I can keep up the momentum. I'm looking forward to helping others who are experiencing slow starts!

  90. Yesterday was the most amazing day! I got home and opened my email to 5 orders right away. I was shocked, since I had listed my items nearly a month ago and hadn't sold anything. I had even paid for a show casing, I received lots of views and hearts, but no sales. I started making soaps, lotions and lip glosses for my family members and friends a few years ago after taking a herbal cosmetic course via correspondance. They all loved my products and urged me to sell them on Etsy. Thank you so very much for the oppurtunity to get my products out there! By the end of the night I had sold half of the items I had listed.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I remember my first sale... it took forever but when it finally happened it made all the waiting and work worth it. It was a month before I got my first sale. The funny thing is the first thing I sold was the first thing I made and put in the shop. It was a bracelet that I really had fun making and remade it 3 times before I finally listed it.

  124. My very first sale was one of my santa ornaments, My wife thought I was crazy to post items on a site we had never heard of until a woman from her baby boards forums posted that we should try Etsy.
I was excited just as I am whenever I open my email to find that ever elusive sale. I also found sneak from a suggestion on a forum and have been a taking part when I can ever since. There are some of the nicest people you will ever meet in this group.

  131. Hello-
Signed/commented before. Would love to donate an item or two for a giveaway or to sneak with you guys from time to time. Never heard back. : (

I've almost given up on my etsy shops. Mostly use them as advertising or sample photos now. Sad but true. Most of my sales have been off my other websites or via email and shows, for custom items. Would be great to actually have my etsy shops sell and show up in a treasury or on the "new items just listed" scroll thing. Have never seen one of my items there either. Wow.

Here are my two regular sites:

    www.bridebootsandmore.weebly.com (handpainted boots and more)

    www.wingedheartart.com (blog and site/products)

Thanks. Let me know how I can become a part of the sneak attack.

    Have a great day!!

Just wanted to pop by, before Spongebob (ugh) is over, to say thanks again & again for my sneakattack last month. I still get so excited just thinking about what an awesome opportunity...as well as confidence you all provided me. I can't wait to find out who the other lucky shops are going to be...because I know how fantastic they are going to feel.

You guys are truly an awesome inspiration!
