Carol from Carol Broadley Pottery is Mom. Carol makes the most beautiful pottery. Says Carol Pottery started as a hobby only...then as many potters say, the clay grabs you, and you get hooked. I started taking year round classes, then got started with art fairs. It was all just an accident! I never intended on selling pottery, but it all has to go somewhere, so that was the next step...the only way to keep improving is to make a lot...of pottery.

Jennifer from Falling Coconuts is one of Carol's daughters. How did Jennifer get started with the sneak attacks? I started Falling Coconuts (my Etsy shop) back in October of 2009 - just a short time after that I got "sneak attacked" and it was a GREAT surprise! I think having that experience gave me the opportunity to learn a lot more about Etsy and the wonderful groups it has to be a part of. And now I am getting the opportunity to pay it forward and brighten the day for someone else.

Jennifer makes a delightful assortment of cards and gift tags. Many of them are made from photographs. This one is my favorite!

Meet Ritzy & Sandi

I'd like to introduce you to a brand new sponsor for our sneak attack! Meet Rita, from Ritzy's All Naturals

Nicknamed as Ritz or Ritzy as a child, (Rita's last name is actually a cracker brand ), Rita lives in Canada, and has lived in 35 towns! When I asked Rita what got her started with making lip balm, she said I started making lip balms several years ago when I started to react to commercial balms. I have a lip balm in every coat and purse I own!

Because I use lip balm myself all the time, and much prefer the natural ones, this one looks perfect (mmm, love honey).

Star Wars is the theme that Kirby, from Happy Hound Creative has picked for our sneak attack that happens at 5pm, Etsy time.

In light of recent sightings of bears in her area, I'm glad that Kirby has a place where she can be to watch them... I have a screened in porch on the back of my house that overlooks the "woods" - it's incredibly quiet and peaceful. It can be 100 degrees outside and my porch for some reason stays nice and cool. I could sit out there for hours. Hmmm maybe glassed in would be better :D

We've met Kirby before, and in looking through her shop for something related to 'bears', I couldn't find anything, however, in keeping with the theme she has chosen for today - how about Monsters!

Everyone has a favorite medium that they work with. When I asked Lisa which was hers, she replied Favorite medium? That is kind of like asking what is your favorite food: one day I want ice cream or to use Resin, the next day I want cake or to do metal work...what about Chinese food-that could be wire wrapping? Lol!

I'm just beginning to learn about wire and how to work with it - I love these earrings, maybe Lisa will teach me how to create them :D

The wonderful world of Sneak Attacks

Usually, I write about the sponsor for our sneak attack - today I'm the sponsor, and if you have been following this blog, you have already met me :D

When you are a new shop on Etsy, and don't know very many people in the community - you browse through the forums, find people on twitter that talk about Etsy, and just try to wrap your mind around all of the information available. It can be very confusing and overwhelming. Hint: being a veteran shop owner - there's still a lot of information that comes your way, that results in overload.

My sneaky friends and I try to help new shops whenever we can. Twice a week, we hold what we call Sneak Attacks - picking 2 or 3 new shops, to introduce them to the Etsy community and help them get a jump start in their business.

Many of our 'victims' have come back and joined the fun, and have become sponsors as well!

We have had a little problem with our email account and we need your help! Apparently over the weekend our Gmail account had a 'hiccup' causing several saved emails to be irretrievably deleted.  Of course, this included the emails we had received from those of you that were scheduled to donate to the Handmade Giveaway through the rest of this year.
