Meet Susanne

Susanne from sussesspindehjrne is sponsoring our attack today at 3pm. One of our international members, Susanne loves to sponsor and always finds the neatest new Etsy shops for us to surprise.

Did you know?  Spindehjørne is Danish for spinning room. And because Susanne does a lot of spinning of yarn - she used that for her shop name.

Susanne gets her some of her fiber from small farms in England, dyes them in her own kitchen, spins them into yarn and then makes the most gorgeous finish products.  And here is one of Susanne's latest creations!

Be sure to see the roving, fiber, yarn, and finished products that Susanne offers in her shop. And join us in our sneak attack thread to hear about the 'victims' for today.

Meet Charlie

Charlie from yukikodesignsstore is sponsoring our sneak attack today at 3pm.

One of our international members, Charlie has lots of fun being a sponsor and finding wonderful new Etsy shops for us to surprise.

The other day, I asked Charlie to tell us about her very first sale.

My first order was from Susanne, due to a sneak attack Maria sponsored on my shop!

I was out and about for the first time in a long time due to my health and i turned on my data on my mobile and just went crazy with likes and favorites and orders.

I had no idea what was going on and kept getting overly excited like a little kid lost in a sweet shop for the first time.

I packaged chocolates with all the lovely orders for Christmas and gift wrapped them I was so excited my stock had finally been brought and going to a good home!

This is the item she sold first! So cute!

Charlie offers a variety of darling items from hair clips, scrap booking, to knitted cowls. Be sure to browse! And then come join us in our Sneak Attack thread today - to see who Charlie's victims will be.

Blast from the Sneak Attack Past October 23, 2013

This week I had the pleasure of visiting Rosy Retro a crochet/knitting supply shop.  They offer rovings, stitch markers, project bags and more.
Rosy Retro was sneak attacked on 06/24/2009 and started with 0 sales and received 10 sales from the attack.

I asked the shops owner some questions and this is what she had to say about the attack on her shop:

Yes I am forever grateful for that first sneak attack!
I would love to answer the questions :-)

How did the sneak attack affect your shop?
It got me started!! From the first few sales, it got me on the Etsy map and also gave me the much needed confidence in the early days! It really did make a huge difference and also made me feel I wasn't alone. It was my first experience of the wonderful, supportive Etsy community!

What was your reaction to the sneak attack?
Total delight and running round the house shrieking!

Are you selling on other venues?
Yes, I also sell on Folksy and will also be doing fiber festivals from next year.(fingers crossed!)

Comments you would like us to pass on to the team?
A massively HUGE thank you!!!!!! Without you guys, I may have given up or lost faith in having an Etsy shop, but the sneak attack was just the thing for giving me that 'springboard' to get started!

Keep up the great work!!  xTabs
Rosy Retro has lots of great finds for a gift for the knitter/crocheter in your life or even a splurge for yourself.

Until next time...(November 6, 2013)  Kelly

SNEAK ATTACK SHOPS 10/17/2013

Sandi of HandmadeBySandi has given us this beautiful treasury of our "Victims" and Sponsor today!

Meet Kelly

Kelly from jubeadlation is sponsoring our sneak attack today at 3pm.

A frequent sponsor, Kelly has chosen 6 shops for us to surprise later today.

When Kelly was a sponsor last year, I asked her what prompted her to join Etsy. She said:

I started making jewelry as a hobby to help de-stress. With my son gone at college, I wanted something to do with my spare time. I missed him terribly! I was hooked from the start making jewelry and had to make more and more. One can only wear so much, so I decided to try and sell online as craft shows were not successful.

And we are so glad she did! I have several items that she has created.

I love this bracelet from Kelly's shop. Such pretty fall colors!

Have you started your holiday shopping yet? If not, check out the other bracelets, necklaces, earrings, ornaments and more, that Kelly has in her shop - there is something for everyone on your list!

And be sure to join us in our sneak attack thread as we get ready for the shop names to be revealed at 3pm!

Amanda from CuteNCurlyBowtique, is sponsoring our Sneak Attack today at 1pm.  She is a frequent sponsor and loves to find new and exciting Etsy shops for us to surprise.

Amanda is one of our Hair Ribbon Gurus and each one she makes is so adorable!

When I asked her to tell us about her very first sale - here is what Amanda said:

I remember my first sale like it was yesterday! March 6, 2012 I logged into Etsy and couldn't figure out why my shop had less items than the day before, then it dawned on me.....I got a SALE!!!!! :) I was overjoyed!!!! And 3 days later I got another. My shop was open almost 3 months before getting my first sale. Back then I used to work on my shop once a week; creating new hair bows, taking pictures, listing new items, reading the seller handbook, and promoting. At times I wondered if I should keep going, I'm so glad I did!

Here is Amanda's first sale item:

You can see a wide variety of hair accessories in Amanda's shop - each one cuter than the one before :D
And come join us in our sneak attack thread to find out who we will be surprising today!

Blast from the Sneak Attacks Past October 9th

This week I had the pleasure of chatting with Shirley from MockaMooseMarket, her shop has many handmade unique home decor items. I just love this, perfect for this time of year too!

On June 1, 2009 MockaMooseMarket was attacked with love from the Handmade Movement team. Shirley's shop was only open about a month and she received 8 sales from the attack. Today her shop has over 450 sales!

When I asked Shirley how the Sneak Attack affected her shop here's what she shared;

"The sneak attack gave me exposure which I needed being so new to Etsy. It boosted my confidence and greatly encouraged me to go forward. I am selling the majority of my items through Etsy. I do sell locally to friends or family and occasionally attend a craft show. I love Etsy! I've received so much support that I hope to continue for a long time with Etsy and hopefully increased my sales."

It's wonderful to hear how these past shops are doing today, I wish them continued success.

Stop by MockaMooseMarket and pick a few favorites of your own.

Until next time,
Amanda

This week I had the pleasure of visiting the shop Twin Soul Art a cute shop offering rubber stamps and more.

Twin Soul Art started out with 0 sales and after the June 1, 2009 sneak attack received 17 sales!  Today her shop has 227 sales and growing.  I asked the shops owner, Jeanne, some questions about the attack and this is what she had to say:

It gave my shop a boost in sales as well as a social boost in my friendship with other Etsy sellers. It was heartwarming and fun! My creative interests and Etsy goods have morphed over the years - the goods I sold and made in 2009 are very different from what I sell today in my shop. For me, the goal was to find a need in the marketplace, then fill it with something I knew I could create well. Custom rubber stamps are popular these days!

I immediately told my family! It was like an early birthday present which was 14 days after the sneak attack date. I was (and still am) touched by the Handmade Movement Team's purpose and mission.

I want to thank all its members with the same measure of encouragement, love and support I felt the day you "sneak attacked" my shop in 2009. The purpose of your movement really does capture the heart of Etsy. Thank you!

Kelly & HMT: Thank you tons and I am still learning and growing!

This bow stamp is really cute and would look great on the back of a card or on a package:

I just love hearing from the past victims.  It is really encouraging to see how they have grown.

Until next time (October 23)....Kelly

Meet Virginia

Virginia, from MadeByHand is sponsoring our sneak attack today at 3pm. Virginia can always be counted on to find the most creative and adorable shops for us to surprise.

I love to find out what prompted our sponsors to name their Etsy shop the way they did.

When asked that question - Virginia said:

I love things that are made by hand so when I joined Etsy back in 2006, I typed in the name and it was available! Good thing I didn't type in some gibberish!

And speaking about things made by hand - this is the latest creation that Virginia has made - and what a cute idea - for treats, a gift, party favors and more...

Get your order in now for your candy corn treat bag before they are gone!

Be sure to join us in our Sneak Attack thread to try and figure out who our 'victims' will be - there will be 8 of them!!!!
