Meet Kelly

Kelly from juBEADlation, is sponsoring our sneak attack today - and we can always be assured that the new Etsy shops Kelly has found for us, will be terrific!!

When Kelly first co-sponsored last August, I asked her what prompted her to join the Handmade Movement/Sneak Attack Team.

I stumbled across the team and loved the concept of helping other shops out.

Kelly continues that love by helping our members too, whenever she can with a kind word, or suggestions.  We love having Kelly as part of our team!

Being slightly obsessed with earrings, I have several pair that I have purchased from Kelly. I love all the detail and care that she puts into her creations! Here's a pair that you might love as much as I do:

I'll bet you can find your favorite pair of earrings too as you browse in Kelly's shop.

And then come join us in our sneak attack thread as we get ready to meet Kelly's victims!

Blast from the Sneak Attack Past May 29, 2013

Every Wednesday Amanda and I are checking in with past Sneak Attack shops to see how they are doing.  Here is what we found this week.

On October 2, 2008 we Sneak Attacked Reworked Designs https://www.etsy.com/shop/ReWorkedDesigns
The shops owner is Michelle Talaski and she creates a variety of items from crocheted items to reworked clothing and bags.  She started out with 0 sales, received 11 sales during the attack and, today she has over 4366 sales.

This is what Michelle had to say about the attack:
Honestly, the sneak attack was one of the greatest surprises. I wasn't too confident in opening the shop and getting sales and things like that and the sneak attack really helped to boost my confidence and realize that I really could do my own little shop! Currently Etsy is the only venue I am selling at - other than a few regular customers that own their own regular storefront shops that purchase items for resale in their shops.... I have checked out a couple of the other online sites for selling and just seem to like the way Etsy has their set-up. The biggest thing I'd like to pass on to the team would be that I think the sneak attacks are one of the best confidence boosters for any new seller on Etsy... you not only get to experience the sales and how that feels, but you also get confidence knowing that people are actually looking at the items that you list on here.

It is so wonderful to hear from past “victims”.  It helps keep us focused and is encouraging to keep sneaking on.
One of my favorite bags:

Take a look around her shop and pick out your own favorites of her 891 items.

See you next week!  Kelly

On October 16, 2008 Rachel from rachelherzog.etsy.com was Sneaked Attacked with love from the Handmade Movement team.  She creates fun unique upcycled and recycled items.  Rachel was so kind to offer 20% off coupon code to our readers, use coupon code; SNEAKATTACKSRULE no minimum purchase required.

Here’s what Rachel shared about how the Sneak Attack affected her shop;
“I have said that the Sneak Attack Team Kick-Started my shop. It totally surprised me because I didn't even now the Handmade Movement Team existed. I was SO grateful for the sneak attack. It gave me the confidence to list more, then sell more, list, sell, list, sell. The first two years on Etsy I was very busy with online sales. From there I got more confidence, and started participating in craft shows. After my sneak attack I participated in Sneak Attacking other shops. From that initial attack, I have moved from Upcycled Felted Pouches, to using vintage buttons and keys, to different size pouches, totes, tooth fairy pillows, upcycled felted cashmere scarves, and fingerless gloves. To now start using waxed canvas and making zippered pouches. Next on the agenda is waxed canvas totes. I appreciate and love what you guys do! Thanks Handmade Movement Team. You gave me the confidence to keep on sewing and selling.”

Check out that adorable upcycled Owl ornament! Rachel’s shop started with zero sales before the Sneak Attack, she got 5 sales from it. Today her shop has 456 sales.

I personally love hearing from these past Sneak Attack shops, I know the entire Handmade Movement enjoys it as well.  We wish these shops continued success.

Until next time,

Amanda

Meet Theresa

Theresa from KraftyGrannysHome is sponsoring our sneak attack today at 3pm.

A frequent sponsor, Theresa always finds the cutest shops to surprise.

I did some research and Theresa was Sneak Attacked in November of 2011 by Wendy! Way to go Wendy.

Since then Theresa has been constant presence in our team, encouraging new shops, offering advice to members and being one of our top Treasury creators - we call her a Treasury Guru!

And, Theresa is always coming up with fantastic creations for her shop - here's her latest - a business card or gift card case. Talk about re-gifting. This gift card case can be given to one person, and they can turn around and give it to the next! Love the little button.

You will love all the creations in Theresa's shop - there is something for everyone on your list!

Be sure to join us in our Sneak Attack thread and see if you can guess who Theresa's victims will be.

Blast from the Sneak Attack Past

Kelly and I are taking a look back at the Sneak Attack shops from the past. Find out how they are doing now and see how the Sneak Attack affected their shop. Look for us each week on Wednesday's.
On September 24, 2008 Kerry from kvwilkinson www.etsy.com/shop/kvwilkinson was the very first Sneak Attack. She creates gorgeous watercolor paintings and note cards. These wildflower notecards are beautiful.

Kerry’s shop started with zero sales, she ended up with 9 sales from the Sneak Attack. And today she has 181 sales, her shop is doing great!

 Here’s what Kerry shared about how the Sneak Attack affected her shop;
“It is hard for me to believe the sneak attack was over 4 years ago! It occurred a short time after I joined Etsy and it really helped to launch my shop. I remember the amazing feeling of the orders and positive comments coming in from the Team. It was very validating! I am no longer selling on other venues; I do my watercolor painting as a sideline and sell primarily through Etsy and my local contacts. Etsy allows me to reach an audience and sell my work in a simple and streamlined way. I absolutely love it!
I want to thank the Handmade Movement Team for choosing me for an early sneak attack. You helped me to develop my confidence with on-line sales at a time that I really needed it.”

What a wonderful feeling! The Handmade Movement team is paying it forward to these newbie shops, now veterans. If you haven’t done so yet, check out Kerry’s lovely paintings and note cards.

All the best,
 Amanda

On September 25, 2008 the team sneak attacked Nicole Maki from the shop Perky Nihilist
www.etsy.com/shop/PerkyNihilist .  Her shop had started with 0 sales and by the end of the attack she had 11 sales.  Today her shop currently has 61 sales.  I sent her a convo and this is what she had to say:

Thanks so much for contacting me. The sneak attack still stands out as one of the sweetest things I've experienced from the online arts and crafts community.
The week of the sneak attack I was seriously considering closing my shop as I wasn't sure it would ever be noticed. It almost felt like a sign from the universe to have so many strangers appear when my confidence was so low. Thank you!
After the sneak attack I recommitted myself to my shop, decided that in order to get any sort of traction with customers I'd need to stand out from the crowd and find a way to reach a broader audience. I did this by focusing on building my blog:  www.madebynicole.blogspot.com/ and subsequently changed the product I sold from cards and embellishments to original collage and prints.

Sure enough, after years of focused attention my Etsy shop 'took off' this past summer and I'm gaining customers from a variety of sources.
Since then I've been invited to participate in local craft fairs and art shows and my pieces have found their forever homes all over Europe, the United States and Canada.

I can't thank you enough for the sneak attack. It was just the encouragement I needed to keep doing what I love and now my art is a secondary source of income.

Warmly,
 Nicole

It was so great to hear from her and how this team made such an impact on her and her shop.  While I was not part of this attack, it still made me feel good to know how it had helped her keep going.

I found many great things while browsing though her shop and must say this is my favorite:

Please take some time to browse around her shop and show her a little more love from this team.

Until next time!  Kelly

Lilian's shop is her second - dedicated to all kinds of greeting cards and scrap booking. An avid horse woman, with several horses in residence in her new barn, Lilian has captured the beauty of these large animals in her greeting cards.

There is so much to choose from, in these delightful shops - I know you will find just the right gift!

Meet Bente

Bente from Sweetiespearls, is one of our newer members, an international one and a first time sponsor! Bente was attacked in January and has been very active ever since then.

I asked Bente what prompted her to create her Etsy shop.

My son’s pen pal who also makes jewelry and has a shop on Etsy.

We are so glad she did!  You know about my obsession with earrings - well in browsing Bente's shop this morning, I fell in 'love' with these!

Obsessed with earrings - you will just adore all of her selection. Her bracelets are fantastic as well. I'm sure you will find lots to satisfy YOUR jewelry needs!

Meet Michelle

Michelle from KittyCrackHouse is sponsoring our sneak attack today at 4pm. She has sponsored before, but it's been awhile as she took a vacation from Etsy to have an adorable baby girl!

Michelle is so creative - she designs the cutest toys for your little kitty kat! I have several of them, and my cat just adores them - with all that great catnip in there :D

And since this past Saturday was a big Star Wars Day - I've picked one of Michelle's newest toys - Yoda.

Pick your favorite toy or your cat's toy as you browse Michelle's shop.

And come join us in our Sneak Attack thread to find out what clues Michelle has, for us to use to guess who her 'victims' will be.

Meet Maria

Maria from MsBittyKnacks, is sponsoring our sneak attack today at 11am. A gal who works outside the home during the week, Maria loves to sponsor on the weekends, when so many other Etsians are available to join in!

I asked Maria what prompted her to join our team.

I actually found the sneak attack site via Scatterbrain Tees (the team's creator). I loved the "Buy Handmade" Tee (which by the way I own one). From there I checked the group saw what I liked and joined. At first, I only checked in during the attacks, but then began chatting more and more and just love the little niche. The sneaky members are SUPER AWESOME!

Maria is a very active member and is always creating something new - these are some of her latest - aren't they adorable?

Be sure to check out all of Maria's wonderful items and then come join us, in our Sneak Attack thread as we get ready to meet the shops that Maria's chosen for today.
