SNEAK ATTACK SHOPS 6/27/2013

This beautiful treasury of our "Victims" was created
by Kaitlyn of FiberCreationStudio

Meet Kelly

Kelly from juBEADlation is sponsoring our Sneak Attack today at 3pm. A frequent sponsor, Kelly always finds the neatest shops for us to surprise!!

One of my favorite parts of writing these posts is to find out what inspires our sponsors to create the items that they do - with such attention to detail and lots of love.

Kelly says:

I am inspired by color and love to mix unexpected colors. I also am always on the search of new unique beads that I've never seen before used in jewelry.

Take a look at one of Kelly's recent creations -  I love the flowers!

You will enjoy browsing thru Kelly's shop, be sure to check out the ornaments that she makes too!

And come join us in our Sneak Attack thread as we get ready to meet those 'victims' that Kelly has picked for us.

Blast from the Sneak Attack Past June 26, 2013

Today I had the pleasure of visiting Kimberly Madson Art & Design. Kimberly was Sneak Attacked on December 17, 2008. Kimberly received 6 sales from the attack and today her shop has 632 sales! She created these gorgeous and elegant door pulls.

Kimberly was happy to share how the Sneak Attack affected her shop;

"Awe, you guys are too sweet! Thank you for asking.
The sneak attack was the funnest thing that anyone has done for my business. I was and am so grateful for the sweet girls on that team. I was really surprised as you may well know. Since then my shop has grown and it has become a happy and profitable place for me. I originally had a mix of items in the beginning but decided to create 2 more Etsy sites to accommodate things besides my Door pulls. I now offer only Door Pulls on the Kmadson Etsy site. This has helped my customers in finding what they are looking for and it has become a niche just for my custom designed door pulls. It has really grown and I have many wonderful customers. I have an Etsy Crochet shop, MadsonAve and a Vintage site on Etsy that are fun for me and my daughter-in-law. MMVintageSweets is a variety of items that are hand made, which I originally had on the Kmadson site. It also has vintage jewelry and vintage finds that change all the time. Fun there too!
I am currently working on my web page with designer David Wischmeier. I am hoping that in the next few months it will be up and running. I will be selling my Door pulls and other items there as well. I am on Pinterest and LOVE my boards and contacts. This site has helped as well to inform customers of what I offer. I have a
facebook fan page and a blog I post on.
I love the Sneak Attack team. Thank you for the sweet surprise and attacking me.
When we help each other we are going to receive the rewards of that. I hope you are all blessed abundantly!"

It was wonderful to hear from Kimberly and see the impact the Sneak Attack had on her shop. She now runs 3 successful Etsy shops, she literally had something for everyone! Take a look back at this great shop Kmadson, pick a few of your favorites.

Have a safe and fun Fourth of July with your friends and family. We won't be back next week, look for us on July 10th.

Until next time,
Amanda

Meet Summer

Summer from SummerWilson8 is sponsoring our Sneak Attack today at 5pm. A dance instructor, Summer uses her crafts as a way to relax in between classes.

A 'victim' of a sneak attack back in 2010, Summer has been a very active member! And a very active crafter!!

I was browsing through her shop this morning to see what was new and boy did I find something very exquisite. Look at this gorgeous hair comb for the girls in a wedding.

And of course since I'm obsessed with earrings, I'm always looking at the earrings that Summer has created - you will love them too - check out all her creations.

Then come join us in our Sneak Attack thread, as we get ready to surprise Summer's 'victims'.

Meet Lynn

Lynn from LolaLynn is sponsoring our Sneak Attack today at 5pm Etsy time.

Lynn was a 'victim' back in May of 2012, and has been an active member since then. Lynn was recently on an extended vacation - and we are delighted to have her back as a sponsor.

What prompted Lynn to join the team  back in 2012?

After being attacked I checked out "The Handmade Movement" website, liked what I found and decided to join. Helping and encouraging others fits into my basic life style values and I have found this team to be genuinely warm and supportive, not only to new shop owners, but to one another.

I always enjoy browsing Lynn's shop - as many of her items feature cats - which I adore. Having 4 cats of my own - anything cat related is my 'favorite'. I do so love her paintings like this one.

Which of her paintings are YOUR favorite? Be sure to check out all the wonderful art work from Lynn's shop. And then come join us in our Sneak Attack thread as we get ready to have lots of fun trying to guess who her 'victims' will be.

Blast from the Sneak Attack Past June 19, 2013

On November 17, 2008 Christina from www.ChristinaColwell.etsy.com was Sneaked Attacked with love from the Handmade Movement team. Christina creates gorgeous whimsical artwork and sculptures. This amazing piece is one of my favorites.

Christina received 13 sales from the attack and today her shop has 283 sales. Christina also has 3 other very successful etsy shops as well. Here's what Christina shared when I ask her about the Sneak Attack in those early days;

"Thank you for checking back. The sneak attack certainly got things started as it represented the first of my etsy sales. I hadn't been getting sales in etsy for months after opening my shop so I stopped checking after a while. It was my husband that noticed I had not one but several sales from the sneak attack. I almost panicked because the first sale was a few days old and I like to stay on top of things. But all was well. Thanks to all of you who stopped by and bought art cards and art prints. My art does sell a lot better at local venues where people can see and touch the art first hand but it is always nice to have the additional boost from etsy sales."

Show Christina's shop some love and see what items are your favorites! I love hearing from these past Sneak Attack shops!

See you next week,
Amanda

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This week I was so excited when I saw the next shop on the list was none other than our own Painted Memories by RosNow we all get to know how she got to become captain of this fantastic team.

Painted Memories started out with 7 sales before the Sneak Attack on November 19, 2008 and received 34 sales.  Today she has 277 sales and growing.  Her gorgeous shop features fine art to note cards.  One of her most popular pieces, often included in many treasuries:

This is how Ros came to become captain:
Before I got Sneak Attacked, I was chatting on another thread with Glenna of Vintage Embellishment  who was helping out Michael Phipps, Founder of the Sneak Attacks, and Janet of Trinkets N Whatnots and I mentioned that I had only had a few sales since I had opened on May 15, 2008. They were giving me tips etc.
I can’t remember if Glenna had mentioned the Sneak Attacks then or not. Then on November 19, 2008 I was attacked! Janet had suggested me and was so excited for me to respond, that she could hardly contain herself! But I had been working all day and didn’t get to check my shop until around 8 pm or so. Boy was I shocked! At first I thought it was a scam or something and I wasn’t going to open any of the emails (my husband’s a computer geek, so I’m always cautious)! LOL! Then Glenna sent me a convo explaining what was going on and I just started crying I was so excited! I couldn’t believe it! 34 new sales that day! It was totally exhilarating as well as encouraging! I will never forget it! It gave me a huge boost in confidence as well as wanting to help other new shops to have that feeling!
That’s how I got involved with the Handmade Movement which has become one of my biggest activities.
When Michael Phipps of Scatterbrain Tees wasn’t able to devote as much time as he wanted to, due to a heavy workload, I took over. There are lots of active members and we have been able to continue with Michael’s wonderful idea.
In September we’ll celebrate our 5th Estyversary!
As Captain of this Team, I am so lucky and proud to work with all of these wonderful, selfless people who are not only willing to help the "victim" shops but each other.
I want to thank all of my Leaders for stepping up to help keep the team viable and working!
My personal favorite piece from her shop:

I have had the pleasure of purchasing a few of her items and I must say they are wonderful.  Please take some time to browse through her shop and find your own favorites.
I know many will agree with me that we are very blessed to have such a wonderful captain, mentor and friend.
Until next time…Kelly

Meet EliSe

EliSe from xEsFunThings is sponsoring our sneak attack today at 3pm. A fairly new member, EliSe has already sponsored several times. She always finds fantastic new Etsy shops for us to surprise.

I'm kind of partial to earrings (tho everyone will say I'm obsessed!), and while browsing EliSe's shop this morning, I found these - how did I miss them, with their cute little keys.

EliSe also makes lots of goodies with seed beads - such creativity -  you will want to browse all day! After you see the gorgeous bracelets that ElsSe makes, and find the ones you 'need', please join us in our Sneak Attack thread for lots of fun and companionship until we meet the 'victims'.

Meet Virginia

Virginia from MadeByHand is sponsoring our Sneak Attack today at 3pm.

She has been a member for almost 2 years. And when I asked Virginia why she joined the team, she said:

My shop was Sneak Attacked last October (2010) and I'll never forget the feeling -- it was a mix of gratitude and disbelief! I decided to pay it forward and immediately joined the team! It's the best team on Etsy!

Virginia has been on vacation for awhile, helping her hubby adjust to being retired. And boy are we excited to have her back!

One of my favorite creations from Virginia's shop are her round crocheted hot pads. I have purchased several as gifts and boy were they well received! I love this one - I'm very patriotic.

Virginia has several of these hot pads in a variety of colors - pick out your favorite!

And then come join us in our Sneak Attack thread as we get ready to see the new shops that Virginia has chosen for us to surprise.

Blast from the Sneak Attack Past June 12, 2013

This week I visited Herban Lifestyle, owned by Mary Kearns.   Her shop features organic soaps, shaving products for men and, lip balm.
This is what Mary had to say about the Sneak Attack on her shop:
My store was just a little over 1 month old at the time. The sneak attack was a bit overwhelming at first, but turned out to be a lot of fun and really helped to kick start my store. I realized that I was capable of more than I thought in terms of fulfilling orders.
I now sell my products on Etsy, my own website, several brick-and-mortar retailers across the country and through Uncommon Goods.
Thanks so much for giving my store that initial boost!

Best, Mary
On October 29, 2008 Herban Lifestyle started off with 7 sales and the attack gave her an additional 21 sales!  Today this shop has 362 sales (on Etsy) and growing.

My favorite from this shop is:

Take a look around and see if there are any of your favorites.
I just love getting to check out these shops from past Sneak Attacks, before I was a member of this wonderful team.
See you next Wednesday!  Kelly

Meet Susanne

Susanne from SussesSpindehjrne is sponsoring our Sneak Attack today at 5pm Etsy time.

A frequent sponsor, Susanne always finds delightful 'victims' to share with us. And as one of our international members - the victims that she finds usually either ship everywhere, or are international Etsy shops as well.

Susanne has grabbed hold of the new crocodile stitch in making items that have a unique look. And sometimes something simple is a find! Susanne has made this adorable flower hair clip that is not just for little girls!! I love the button that she has used on this flower - really a nice touch.

Susanne also makes hand-dyed yarn. You are bound to find something just for you in her shop. And then come join us in our Sneak Attack thread as we find out who the lucky 'victims' are today!

Blast from the Sneak Attack Past June 5, 2013

On October 20, 2008 the shop Paints and Scraps https://www.etsy.com/shop/paintsandscraps
was sneak attacked with love.  Laurie Taylor is the shop’s owner.  Before the attack sales were at 0 and after she had received 6 sales.

Paints and Scraps offer a variety of beautiful hand painted cards.  Like this one:

I asked Laurie some questions and this is what she had to say:
How did it affect my shop? I had a few sales, and some followers, it definitely helped my business :)
My reaction? Honestly, it made me so happy, and I was so flattered. I hadn't had any sales before that, and it made me happy that someone out there cared enough to sneak attack me. I hadn't heard of the sneak attack prior to mine.
Other venues? No, not at this time. I sell to friends, and promote my things on Facebook.
Comments? Keep up the good work. It really means a lot to the recipient.
Have a great day!! :) Laurie
It is so wonderful hearing from these past “victims”.  It truly makes it all the more worthwhile.
This is my favorite card:

Take a look around her shop and pick out your own favorites and show her some more love from this team.
See you next week…Kelly

On October 24, 2008 Julie from JooolesDesign.etsy.com was Sneaked Attack by the Handmade Movement team. At the time Julie was making adorable cards, today she creates gorgeous Mosaics and polymer clay jewelry.

When I contacted Julie this is what she shared about how the Sneak Attack affected her shop;

“I loved the sneak attack although I didn't know what was happening when orders just kept coming in and coming in and coming in... It was very exciting and a great morale boost. I was selling cards back then. Then in 2010 I went to a friend's house for an art day of our garden club and fell in love with mosaics. I have been selling my mosaics and having shows at several venues around Santa Barbara. I currently have my mosaics displayed (and for sale) at two locations, a coffee house and my internist's office. Then after hauling heavy mosaics to a one-day Artist Tour held by our local Goleta Valley Art Association, I decided I'd try something a little easier to transport. I also had recently purchased a kiln so now I'm making jewelry. I guess I'm one of those people who just wants to be busy making things.  Thank you again for doing a sneak attack on my shop. It's a wonderful way to give an artist a real thrill.”

Julie's shop is doing great! She started with zero sales before the attack, she received 33 sales from it, and today has 59 sales. Check out all her etsy shop and website; www.jooolesdesign.com/ to pick your own favorites!

We wish these past shops continued success.
Amanda

Meet Dee and Sandi

Dee from OneOfMineBeadDee, and Sandi from HandmadeBySandi are co-sponsoring our Sneak Attack today at 3pm.

Dee was a 'victim' in March - chosen by one of our other international members -  Barbara - way to go Barbara.

Dee has been very active with the team, coming and chatting in our threads and was eager to be a sponsor!! She is one of our international members and lives in Australia!

A wonderful jewelry maker - wait til you see her creations - According to Dee many of her pieces have a special purpose.

I happen to make jewellery for everyone but which those who have some kind of disability can enjoy wearing too. For those who need easy-to-get-on-and-off pieces, those who can't - or even can't be bothered with - fiddly clasps.

I browsed through Dee's shop this morning and came upon this stunning bracelet that was featured on the front page of Etsy!!

Sandi is a veteran member and sponsor and always likes to help new members get their 'sponsoring wings'. Sandi's shop has a little of this and a little of that, all handmade. Her love is crocheting and here is her latest idea.

A crocheted sleeve for your take-a-long beverage cups!

Check out these two sponsors and their shops - you are sure to find something that you will love!

Then come join us in our Sneak Attack thread as we get ready to surprise some new shops!
